Creating More Innovative Partnerships in the Charlotte Ecosystem
Prospera’s presence continues to grow steadily in North Carolina and create an impact in the region through its programming and local partnerships. The most recent partnership was created as a result of an Innovate Charlotte pilot program, a fellow local nonprofit organization with a mission to connect entrepreneurial initiatives, activities, and strategic relationships to cultivate a better ecosystem for the benefit of all Charlotteans.
Innovate Charlotte’s first initiative was launching a Venture Mentoring Service licensed from the renowned MIT VMS Program. This pilot program’s mission is to connect local entrepreneurs who are starting innovation-driven companies at the validation stage of their business model with teams of experienced volunteer mentors for objective, unbiased business advice and guidance. These mentors are selected for their experience in areas relevant to the needs of new entrepreneurs and for their enthusiasm for the program and provide practical, day-to-day professional advice and coaching.
Prospera Vice President Jose Alvarez was selected as one of these mentors based on his experience as a business consultant and mentor in addition to his previous involvement with national programs such as Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, and other more regionally focused entrepreneurial programs.
