West Coast of Florida Client: Katiuska Santana
In early 2022, Katiuska Santana moved with her husband to a five-acre farm called Encanto in Floral City, Florida. On this farm, Katiuska enjoys living in harmony with nature. Her plants are cultivated with care, dedication, and without the use of harmful chemicals, and her animals roam safely and freely in a peaceful environment. Backed by her botany knowledge, experience, and a “green thumb,” Katiuska decided to start a business from her passion for gardening.
Using the online sales platform Etsy® to conduct her business, Katiuska’s operations consist of meticulously selecting the best tropical plants, advertising them online, carefully packaging them with re-usable materials, and shipping them out to clients across the United States of America. Currently, the Encanto Farm’s Etsy® shop has a five-star rating and more than 1200 reviews from satisfied clients that have purchased from Katiuska’s unique selection of plants, and have also learned to take good care of these by following her detailed and personalized care recommendations.
Recently, Prospera awarded Katiuska with expert services to assess her current accounting practices, help optimize her business’ bookkeeping strategy, and strengthen her business’ foundation for sustainability and growth. The organization also awarded Katiuska with a branding kit to enhance the Encanto Farm’s corporate image and attract more clients.
In the near future, Katiuska desires to open a nursery on the Encanto farm, in order to be able to cultivate her fascinating plants on-site and attend to her clients in person. As we get closer to Earth Day 2022, at Prospera, we want to celebrate our client Katiuska and all the other Hispanic business owners who have intentionally made the wellbeing of our planet a priority in their entrepreneurial journeys.
