North Carolina Client: Pilar Long
Originally from Colombia, Pilar Long is an admirable engineer in her field. She used to work for a System Integrator’s company programming system controls for the Water and Waste Industry, but as her family started to grow, she decided to create her own company to have more flexibility and be present for her kids. Thus, in 2005 she started her own consulting business, where she develops interfaces for automation control systems and specializes in the software development of interfaces and system reports generation.
About 3 years ago, Pilar met Prospera North Carolina Vice President at a networking event. She remembers having a great conversation with him and learning about how Prospera can help of great help to Hispanic entrepreneurs like her. Since then, the organization has connected Pilar with several professional business development service providers to help her develop her corporate branding and coached her to improve and optimize her business plan.
Above being one of the few women engineers in software development, specifically for water and waste management, Pilar feels more privileged to be able to work in this field for the opportunity to experience firsthand how important it is to take care of our natural resources. As a child, Pilar always wanted to take care of our planet, and now she’s able to do so through every customer that she serves. She encourages them to adopt eco-friendly practices for their businesses and helps them add value to their software and applications by facilitating them with effective electronic reporting tools and helping them go paperless. At Prospera, we commend Pilar’s desire to look after our home planet. To follow her lead, this year, Prospera became a paperless organization.
