On May 4, Prospera participated in a panel discussion for Hispanic small business owners and entrepreneurs as part of the series of events in South Florida to commemorate National Small Business Week.
In the first session, the panel “Leaders and Lenders on Small Business Development” consisted of Jonel Hein, (SBA Deputy District Director), Sheri Colas-Gervais (Economic Development & Urban Initiatives VP at The Beacon Council), Phillip Bacon (Urban Philanthropies President), Daquan Hall (Business Developer at Tools for Change), Fabiana Estrada (ACCION USA, Director of Lending South Florida), Maria Coto (Partners for Self-Employment Executive Director), Shekeria Brown (South Florida Community Development Coalition Executive Director) and Erick Isaac ( Assistant Vice President- Other Regions at Prospera).
Attendees learned more about the different programs each organization offers to support the growth of their business and the collaboration between these organizations to contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in South Florida.
The second session featured a panel discussion titled “Conversations with TD Bank.” Ana Castilla (TD Bank VP – Community Development) and Jim Hanning, (Miami-Dade Regional Vice President) presented the different products and services their finance institution offers for small businesses. Prospera and ACCION USA also participated and shared how each organization supports entrepreneurs with their finances and access to capital.
