Since journeying to the United States from the Dominican Republic over 25 years ago, Nicolas Paulino has gained over two decades of experience in the restaurant industry. With no formal training, he became a successful chef and cooked delicious food in two of the world’s greatest cities, New York and Miami. In 2012, Paulino used his years of experience in the industry to open his very own restaurant, Seven Seas Restaurant & Fish Market.
Located in Miami’s Little Haiti, Seven Seas Restaurant is known for its authentic cuisine with Caribbean flare. Doubling as a fish market, the restaurant offers an incredible variety of fresh fish to its patrons. Paulino’s wife works as the cashier and waitress while his brother is the sous-chef, making it a genuine family-owned and operated business.
In need of capital and a marketing plan to consistently grow his business, Paulino turned to Prospera. With the help of his consultant, Paulino was able to secure a micro-loan to renovate and upgrade his restaurant as well as hire additional help. He was also awarded with a marketing and sales grant that is being used to expand the business’s customer base and implement new offerings. The assistance Seven Seas Restaurant has received is helping them realize their vision and mission to become a Michelin-starred restaurant in the center of Miami’s melting pot, granting its residents and tourists the pleasure of tasting the Caribbean seafood flavor of the city.
