South Florida Client: Paola Frewa
Originally from Venezuela, Paola Frewa and her family have always focused on remaining flexible and adaptable. They embarked on several entrepreneurial ventures in Venezuela and the United States and learned valuable lessons from each. In 2006, they started International Cabinet Contractors, a South Florida-based family-operated business that designs, manufactures, sells, and installs high-end cabinets and organization systems for interior designers, carpenters, and developers.
Over the years, Paola and her family have overcome many challenges and adjusted to market trends, fashion changes, technological advancements, and clients’ needs, continually purchasing new products and machinery, retraining their staff, and remaining positive about the company’s future. During the COVID-19 pandemic, International Cabinet Contractors hit a rough patch; revenues decreased significantly and, furthermore, they had recently made a large investment to purchase new commercial space. Notwithstanding these obstacles, International Cabinet Contractors was able to fully recover and maintain its viability.
Since 2011, Paola has relied on Prospera’s guidance and support for the growth, sustainability, and development of International Cabinet Contractors. They’ve received ongoing business consulting, training, a business plan, legal assessment, and referrals for obtaining their minority certification. In 2019, Paola was recognized as a Prospera Success Stories South Florida honoree for her excellence and accomplishments as a small business owner. Today, Paola is actively working with Prospera, including a new marketing plan to increase domestic and international sales.
Originally, International Cabinet Contractors focused on offering closet cabinets alone; they now specialize in kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and all types of cabinets. More recently, as part of the company’s growth strategy, they are in the process of expanding their product line to include poolside and patio furniture, as well as lighting fixtures. Moreover, as of April 2022, International Cabinet Contractors projected annual sales of more than $1.2 million.
Started by Paola and her late husband Eli, International Cabinet Contractors has transformed and evolved consistently to become a successful business and a great example of resiliency through adversity. At Prospera, we are very proud to witness and support Paola’s efforts to keep her family business successful and continually growing.
