Meet Prospera West Coast of Florida Regional Board Member Rob West

Prospera West Coast of Florida Regional Board Member Rob West is the Vice President and Community Development Manager, Central & North Florida at TD Bank.  With 24 years of experience in banking and a passion for creating inclusive opportunities, Rob is dedicated to empowering underserved communities. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, collegiate athlete, and lifelong learner, Rob brings a unique blend of leadership, discipline, and expertise to every endeavor. What are your organization/company’s mission and products/services?

At TD Bank, we aim to “Be the Better Bank” by fostering a culture of care and inclusion for our colleagues, customers, and communities. Our goal is to help our customers establish a secure, sustainable financial future through a wide range of retail, small business, and commercial banking products and services.

As a Community Development Manager, I focus on community development loans, investments, and services, ensuring we meet the needs of underserved communities. By building partnerships with organizations like Prospera, I strive to create positive financial impacts on individuals, families, and businesses.

What motivated you to serve on Prospera’s board as a volunteer?

I have always been driven to assist those who lack resources or knowledge to succeed. My motivation to serve on Prospera’s board stems from my desire to support the Hispanic business community by providing the tools, education, and guidance needed for success.

What have you enjoyed the most so far about serving on Prospera’s board?

Meeting Prospera’s clients has been the most rewarding experience. Attending orientations and workshops, I’ve had the privilege to hear entrepreneurs share their dreams and triumphs. Additionally, I’ve enjoyed celebrating their achievements at the annual Success Stories event.

What would you most like the community to know about Prospera?

Prospera is a vital resource for Hispanic entrepreneurs. The organization bridges gaps by providing tailored guidance, education, and tools to help businesses thrive.

Which are the three words that best describe you?

Collaboration, Patience, Perseverance.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Network! Build connections externally with communities, businesses, and professional organizations, as well as internally with colleagues and leaders who can advocate for your growth.

How do you achieve work/life balance?

I maintain a consistent routine, including daily walks and using multiple calendars—Outlook for work, a personal calendar on my phone, and a family calendar on the refrigerator. This organization helps me separate work, personal, and family time effectively.

How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?

I subscribe to associations and receive updates from sources like the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Harvard Business Review, and the American Bankers Association.

Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?

Panera.

What is one item still on your bucket list?

Visiting the Galápagos Islands.
