What is your workplace’s mission and services?
The City of Brookhaven’s Economic Development Department serves as the liaison between the city, the business community, and state and county leaders. We facilitate investments within Brookhaven city limits through the redevelopment of high priority sites and the creation of quality jobs.
What motivated you to serve on Prospera’s board as a volunteer?
Being responsible for the equitable economic viability of all the city’s residents and businesses, it was an easy decision to serve an organization that helps advance the futures of a key part of our community.
What have you enjoyed the most so far about serving on Prospera’s board?
Seeing the impact it has had in transforming the lives of so many small business owners.
What would you like the community to know about Prospera?
That they are a true partner—one that genuinely cares and is committed to helping entrepreneurs realize their dreams.
Which are the three words that best describe you?
Strategic, Measured, Consistent.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
To take the long view and understand the big picture. When you adopt a long-term perspective, it quickly helps you decide what is truly important versus what only seems urgent at the moment.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
By prioritizing what truly matters and never forgetting why I do what I do—for my family.
How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?
Read, read, read—from a broad range of sources and industries. Economics isn’t just about financial trends; it’s about understanding social shifts and preferences that shape how an economy will serve these trends.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
Henri’s Bakery!
Which social media platform do you use most frequently?
I try to stay away from social media as much as possible.
What is one item still on your bucket list?
To watch a World Cup football match.
Michael’s commitment to economic development and his dedication to supporting small businesses reflect his passion for long-term community growth. At Prospera, we are grateful for his leadership and invaluable contributions to our mission!
