Janelly Rosales is a dedicated advocate for small businesses. She currently serves as Senior Economic Development Program Manager for Mecklenburg County. What are your company’s mission and products/services?
The Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development is the lead organization responsible for recruiting and retaining businesses, stimulating small business vitality, and promoting Mecklenburg County.
The County offers a helping hand for business growth through the Meck Lending program. Meck Lending is here to help local small business owners who face challenges in accessing capital through traditional lenders by offering loans for business-related purposes, with amounts up to $75,000 and accommodating terms designed to help small business owners secure capital, create and retain jobs, and grow their businesses.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
I am based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I have found a perfect harmony between my professional and personal life. I enjoy exploring the city’s extensive greenways and attending vibrant local festivals. On weekends, my husband, my son, and I often embark on adventures across the picturesque landscapes of North Carolina. One of our favorite destinations is Blowing Rock, a charming town known for its breathtaking views and outdoor activities. This balance of work and family time allows me to recharge and stay motivated, bringing my best self to both my career and my loved ones.
How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?
Staying informed about trends in the small business sector is crucial to ensure I provide the most relevant and effective guidance to my clients. Here are a few ways I stay on top of the latest developments:
- I actively participate in and foster relationships with small business groups across Mecklenburg County to learn from our stakeholders and the small business community.
- I invest in my own education by taking courses, attending webinars, and pursuing certifications that keep my knowledge and skills sharp.
- I participate in professional associations and groups that help accelerate entrepreneurial activity, business growth, and success.
By combining these efforts, I ensure that I am always equipped with the latest knowledge and tools to support my clients in achieving their business goals.
