What are your company’s mission and products/services?
At Juniper GP our mission is to serve investors with best-in-class investment and management expertise to protect capital when long term prospective returns are low and take advantage of large market opportunities through a strong focus on Asset Allocation flexibility, and owner mentality with long term investment horizon.
What motivated you to serve as a Prospera volunteer?
I knew Augusto (President/CEO) growing up and I met with him and Jose as they were starting the North Carolina operations a few years ago. To be honest, I couldn’t believe that there was such an organization that could advise, educate, and walk entrepreneurs along their journey. Let alone for FREE! The culture of service is a pillar of the organization, and it is contagious. From the very beginning to every interaction with a Prospera member, you quickly start wondering how you can also give back to the community.
What have you enjoyed the most so far about serving as Chairman for TAC?
I love listening to the stories that the entrepreneurs bring to Prospera for advice and counseling. As part of TAC, we get to learn about the business story that has been put together by the advisor working with the client. Personally, it has been truly motivating and inspirational to hear what those businesses have already achieved and to hear the potential ahead of them. In addition, the friendships and connections with other TAC members are invaluable. Serving as the Chairman has been the culmination of years of working alongside other servants that only want the best for our community. A gratifying opportunity and honor to serve as the leader this year.
What would you most like the local community to know about Prospera?
I would just want everyone to know about this resource and to give themselves a chance to examine their business on a deeper level. Can we all do it alone, maybe so? But why not get advised by professionals who are experts in the matter and can also put you in contact with a much larger ecosystem (banking, funding, grants, marketing, legal, etc.) that will only save you time and maximize your opportunities? It is really a win-win opportunity!
Which are the three words that best describe you?
Loyal, adaptable, Latino! an extra one – visionary!
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
Growing up, I remember my parents always telling me and my siblings that people do not decide their futures; they decide their habits, and their habits decide their futures. In my experience, having the grit to be consistent with those habits has been crucial throughout my career.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
As a father of 3 young boys, I believe in prioritizing. Communication with my wife on logistics and what is going on at work has always been crucial. In the last few years, I also learned how to say no to different opportunities. Not because I didn’t believe in them but because I didn’t want other commitments to suffer.
How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?
I am looking at our Bloomberg station which provides updated information. The Wall Street Journal is also great. Outside of that, I follow everything sports related on espndeportes.com.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
I love having lunch with someone and breaking bread. The spots change regularly but lately it’s been a locally-owned deli called Rusty’s Deli & Grille. You really get to know a person on a different level and expand the relationship.
Which social media platform do you use most frequently?
I would say Instagram and LinkedIn.
What is one item still on your bucket list?
I would love to go to a soccer World Cup. My wife and I can’t wait to take our 3 boys for the next one which is going to be here in the U.S. in 2026.
