What motivated you to serve as a Prospera volunteer?

I have a passion for helping to develop individuals, as well as their businesses. Prospera provides a community for business owners to not only collaborate with each other, but to receive invaluable coaching and mentorship as well as financial assistance to assist in their development. The time and financial assistance that are invested in these individuals help them to achieve their personal goals and helps to make Charlotte a more well-rounded community.

What have you enjoyed the most so far about volunteering on Prospera’s TAC?

So far, my favorite part about being apart of Prospera’s TAC is hearing the testimonials from our clients who are returning to us for additional guidance and coaching. In many cases, we have seen their businesses grow from simply a thought to a business that is earning millions of dollars annually and has changed the lives of their families.

What would you most like the local community to know about Prospera?

Prospera provides tangible coaching and mentorship to local business owners throughout the communities that we serve. The coaching paired with financial grants and assistance empower business owners to achieve their goals and improve their businesses.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Early in my career I had a former colleague tell me: “you ask too many people too many questions.” This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Asking continual questions are key to an individual’s development, it also shows genuine curiosity and interest around the topic at hand. Regardless of job rank, socioeconomic status, age, race, gender, sexuality, etc. everyone has a perspective and wisdom to share. If you want to know more about something and improve yourself and create a more worldly perspective, ask the question!

How do you achieve work/life balance?

To me, the work/life balance needs to be closely intertwined to be happy. Find a career and company that fits your lifestyle and your “why”. When you find this place, the work/life balance automatically takes care of itself.

How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?

I am an avid consumer of media, news publications and industry research. I like to gather multiple perspectives on topics that impact my industry and the industries that I serve. On a global and national scale, I closely follow Bloomberg News and on the local level, I closely follow The Charlotte Business Journal.

Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?

Summit Coffee’s Eastover location on Providence Road.

What is one item still on your bucket list?

Visit all 50 states, I am currently at 30 states.

Collin’s commitment to economic development and his dedication to supporting Hispanic entrepreneurs reflect his passion for making a positive impact in the community. At Prospera, we are grateful for his leadership and valuable contributions to our mission!
