In his own words: Get to know Isaac Juarez
What motivates you to serve as a Prospera Governing Board Member?
Serving as a Prospera Governing Board Member motivates me because I am passionate about empowering entrepreneurs and fostering economic development in underserved communities.
What’s one event or occasion that has impressed you during your time volunteering for Prospera?
An event that impressed me during my time volunteering for Prospera was the annual awards gala. The event was a celebration of inspiring stories of growth and success, showcasing the incredible achievements of individuals and businesses.
How do you relax after a busy week?
For me, relaxation means staying active by spending time with my family, whether we’re biking, hiking, or camping somewhere in Florida. I’m always moving and enjoying the outdoors.
What is one book that has influenced your leadership style?
One book that has significantly influenced my leadership style is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Despite being a little old, its timeless lessons on effective communication, empathy, and relationship-building remain invaluable to successful leadership.
What’s the best advice a mentor gave you?
The best advice a mentor gave me was to always lead with empathy and stay true to myself, ensuring I never lose my authenticity. It’s important that my decisions reflect my values and address the needs of the people I support.
What’s an early job that helped shape who you are today?
An early job that helped shape who I am today was working at a car body shop as a teenager. Like many from Hispanic families with humble beginnings, I had to start working at a young age. This experience taught me how we can impact and transform, with my hands, in this case, cars, which instilled in me a strong work ethic and the value of tangible results.
What’s your go-to method for making tough decisions?
When faced with tough decisions, I first collect all relevant information and consult with trusted colleagues to gain different perspectives. I consider the potential long-term impact of each option, but I also trust my intuition to guide me toward the best choice.
What’s one personal goal you still strive to achieve?
This is a tough question, but I have two goals. First, I strive to leave a meaningful legacy through stewardship that benefits future generations in my work and community. Second, I want to learn a new language and put it into practice.
