SMALL BUSINESS CONSULTANT – Southwest Florida
Prospera is recruiting a full-time, exempt Small Business Consultant who will report to Prospera’s West Coast of Florida Vice President. Routine and regular availability during the day, with some early evening and weekend support required.
The overall purpose of the Small Business Consultant is to deliver and promote client services, delivering high-impact, one-on-one consulting services and educational programming to support the growth and sustainability of new and established small businesses. The position’s primary responsibilities include:
One-on-One Business Consulting & Client Management, including:
- Conduct initial analysis of new and existing business ventures
- Perform comprehensive needs assessments to identify strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities
- Develop, update, and implement Entrepreneurial Development Plans (EDPs)
- Formulate strategic solutions to advance client business objectives
- Manage Technical Assistance Consulting (TAC) services, including recruitment and coordination of contracted professional providers
- Prepare and review client cases on a monthly basis
- Connect clients to relevant community resources and ecosystem partners
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM documentation and performance data
Educational Program Coordination & Delivery:
- Secure and coordinate expert speakers for educational seminars
- Plan and deliver business educational programming
- Conduct bilingual business orientation seminars (English/Spanish)
- Evaluate speaker effectiveness and participant engagement
Community Engagement & Special Projects:
- Serve as a regional ambassador through community outreach and ecosystem engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, corporations, government representatives, and partner organizations
- Support the development of a culture of philanthropy among clients and stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to the Small Business Specialist on Education Committee matters
- Assist in managing volunteer committees and technical assistance initiatives
- Complete additional projects as assigned by the Regional Vice President
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required; alternatively, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a small business or entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to present effectively to both small and large audiences, adapting communication style to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong research, written, and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish required.
- Intermediate knowledge of various industries and business models, with the ability to understand how different sectors operate.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with entrepreneurs, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Experience facilitating small groups and supporting collaborative teamwork.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics CRM and other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms to manage client data and track performance metrics.
- Professional presence, appearance, and demeanor required.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and verifications.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
