Client Spotlight: Taini Soap Company

North Carolina Client: Carmen Taveras

Carmen Taveras established Taini Soap Company in February 2023 in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a woman-owned and operated business, Carmen’s vision for Taini Soap Company was clear – to craft all-natural, eco-friendly, and handcrafted solid soaps. Her unique twist lay in her commitment to our four-legged companions, as she delicately created a line of soaps specially designed for dogs. With plans to expand her products to introduce solid shampoo and conditioner, Carmen’s business is on the rise, primarily thriving online, but also present at the State Farmer’s Market every weekend.

The name “Taini” pays homage to Carmen’s Dominican roots, echoing the Taíno, an indigenous tribe whose name means “running water.” Taini Soap Company is a testament to the fusion of entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and the beauty of nature.

During an access to capital orientation with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund, Carmen was referred to Prospera. Since then, Carmen has worked closely with the organization attending one-on-one consulting sessions and business seminars. Moreover, with Prospera’s guidance and support Carmen developed a solid Business Plan, improved her sales projections, refined her marketing strategies, and sharpened her entrepreneurial skills.

Carmen’s advice to fellow Hispanic entrepreneurs is to seize opportunities, take risks, and learn from setbacks.

Carmen’s journey, supported by Prospera, showcases how a dream, when nurtured with determination and the right guidance, can blossom into a thriving and unique business that not only enriches the lives of its customers but also honors a rich cultural legacy.
