Central Florida clients: Jose and Aida Ortiz
Jose Ortiz (from Puerto Rico) and his wife Aida (from the Dominican Republic) are the owners of Remodel Surplus in Orlando since 2016. Backed by several years of experience in real estate brokerage, construction, and business administration, the power couple decided to start their own business offering home renovations services and supplies to the Central Florida market.
As a family-owned and operated business, they strive to create a special experience for each one of their customers and employees, treating them like family. Moreover, what motivated Jose and Aida to create their firm was the possibility to design and deliver great services for their customers. To make it happen, Jose and Aida meet with clients, draft their remodeling designs based on the clients’ needs and desires, exemplify their ideas in their showroom, and proceed with the execution of each project with professionalism and passion.
The couple found out about Prospera after attending a Don Quijote Awards Gala as guests some years ago. Since then, they understood that growing with support and guidance is much easier than doing so alone. After confronting the many challenges that the pandemic brought upon their business, Jose and Aida approached Prospera for strategies to strengthen their business and for assistance regarding minority certifications. Prospera awarded them with a business plan to enhance their operations, which they’ve started to implement as a guiding map to reach their business goals.
Although they continue to face challenges due to delays in receiving materials, thus taking longer to complete projects, Remodel Surplus continues advancing and has grown from six employees to eight. Recently, Prospera awarded them a marketing and sales plan to expand their clientele and increase their revenues.
Jose and Aida hope to open additional showrooms in the future and possibly become a franchise. They advise fellow Hispanic entrepreneurs to work hard, embrace challenges, and remain focused on their goals.
