North Carolina Client: Michel Meza
Michel Meza and his cousin established Los Chamos Charlotte, LLC at the beginning of 2022 to offer traditional and reinvented Venezuelan dishes to the local community in an inviting, inclusive, and multicultural setting. Since opening the restaurant to the public in September 2022, Michel has worked hard to elevate their dishes and provide excellent service. Moreover, used to own several businesses in his home country, Venezuela. Yet, once he became an entrepreneur in North Carolina, he realized that the path to success in the USA was very different from what he knew and that he needed guidance to push the business forward.
Michel Meza found support at Prospera, where he’s met numerous times with one of the organization’s Business Development Consultants to set optimized goals for Los Chamos Charlotte, define a course of action to achieve those goals, learn ways to enhance his business’s operations, and follow up later to make sure everything is going according to plan. Michel also received guidance to access capital for his restaurant and strengthen its finances. In fact, with assistance from the organization, Michel was approved for a business loan from Wells Fargo.
In Venezuela, “chamos” is a very popular slang word used in reference to a friend, equivalent to “homie,” or “dude.” Therefore, the business’s name-Los Chamos-emphasizes the friendly, inviting, and comfortable atmosphere that Michel envisioned for his restaurant. After being recognized in multiple local magazines and growing significantly popular, Michel aspires to open a second location in the future while continuing to sustainably and successfully grow his business.
