Northeast Florida Client: Emily Colina
Beauty with Purpose, Rooted in Experience
Emily Colina Barboza, a Venezuelan entrepreneur, has always been surrounded by the world of beauty. Her mother owned a spa in Venezuela, and after personally struggling with acne, Emily became passionate about skincare and aesthetics. She pursued extensive training, earning over 30 certifications in techniques such as laser hair removal, lip micropigmentation, and facial treatments. In 2018, she moved to the U.S., and by her second year, she was laying the foundation for her own business, Emy Beauty Spa in Jacksonville.
Fluent in both English and Spanish and with a background in business administration and accounting, Emily brings professionalism and warmth to her clients, treating each with personalized care.
Gaining Structure and Clarity to Grow
After launching her business from home, Emily transitioned to a commercial location, aiming to expand her services and build a strong brand. In 2025, she was referred to Prospera by fellow Jacksonville entrepreneur Carmen Romero. At the time, she needed legal contracts, organization, and a clearer path for sustainable growth. Through personalized consulting and guidance, Emily received valuable business tools and was awarded a Business Plan for Operations and a Legal Assessment.
These resources helped her clarify her vision and strengthen the structure of her company. “The business plan opened my mind and brought clarity,” she shares. “It helped me understand areas of my business that weren’t clear before.”
Beauty That Inspires Confidence
Today, Emy Beauty Spa offers a wide variety of personalized aesthetic services that enhance both image and well-being, from laser hair removal and facial treatments to body whitening, massage therapy, and more. Emily describes her spa as a place of support, where clients feel like family and beauty is always paired with purpose.
As she continues to grow, her focus is on expanding visibility, increasing her client base, and positioning her brand for long-term success. “It’s not an easy path,” she advises other entrepreneurs. “Consistency, perseverance, and resilience are essential. Dedicate yourself to something that brings you joy and purpose, because that’s what keeps you evolving.”
