North Carolina Clients: Rosendo Aguilar Rodriguez and Alma Rodriguez

From a Dream to a Family Enterprise

Rosendo Aguilar spent more than a decade working in the restaurant industry while envisioning a future of business ownership alongside his wife, Alma Rodriguez. For Rosendo and Alma, entrepreneurship was never solely about opening an eatery. It was about personal growth, creating opportunities for their family, and building a legacy grounded in hard work and determination. Alongside their daughters, Abril and Carolina, they transformed that vision into reality in July 2024 with the launch of Churrocker’s Churreria, a family-owned business specializing in Latin American street food and beverages, with a signature focus on churros rellenos. Today, they serve customers through multiple locations, including Gastonia, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and South Carolina.

Finding the Right Guidance

Although Rosendo and Alma had dreamed of owning a business for years, they recognized that turning that vision into reality required guidance and preparation. Along the way, they encountered challenges that slowed their progress and left them uncertain about the next steps. Seeking support, they connected with Prospera, looking for trusted guidance that could help them navigate the process without creating an additional financial burden.

At the time, they needed assistance understanding business structure, improving financial management, and identifying pathways to access capital. Through Prospera’s personalized business consulting services, Rosendo and Alma were connected with accounting resources and received support while transitioning their business model from a fixed location to a food truck operation. They also worked to establish a clearer organizational structure, ensuring that responsibilities and expectations were defined for each family member involved in the business.

Growing With Purpose

Today, Churrocker’s Churreria continues to grow steadily despite economic challenges that have affected many small businesses. Supported by a dedicated family team and a growing customer base, their business has built momentum and established a strong presence in the communities they serve. Rosendo and Alma hope to expand into additional locations and create more employment opportunities, particularly for individuals seeking a chance to build a better future.

A Message to Future Business Owners

As they reflect on their entrepreneurial journey, Rosendo and Alma encourage other aspiring business owners not to let fear prevent them from taking the first step.

“Fear prevents you from pursuing your dreams. Don’t wait any longer, you simply have to go for it. We wish we had started sooner. Always seek the right people, like Prospera, who will provide the information and support you need.”

Their experience serves as a reminder that entrepreneurship is not about having all the answers from the beginning. It is about taking action, learning along the way, and seeking guidance when needed. Through perseverance, family support, and a commitment to continuous growth, Rosendo Aguilar Rodriguez and Alma Rodriguez, alongside their daughters, Abril and Carolina, continue building Churrocker’s Churreria while inspiring others to pursue their own dreams.
