North Carolina Client: Lila Borje and Salvador De la Torre
Building a Family Business on Wheels
Lila Borje, originally from Argentina, and Salvador De la Torre, from Mexico, are owners of Molka-GT Kitchen On Wheels, LLC in Hendersonville, North Carolina. In September 2020, they decided to open a food truck dedicated to serving quesadillas, tacos, tamales, and other traditional Mexican dishes. By late 2024, when they wanted to enhance the dining experience with a comfortable space for their customers, it became clear to them that they needed guidance to review legal requirements and formalize written contracts before taking the next steps.
Finding Guidance Through Prospera
Lila and Salvador met Prospera in early 2025 at a walk-in consulting session at the Western Women’s Business Center in Asheville, North Carolina. At the time, they were looking to create an enclosed seating area to provide shelter for customers regardless of weather conditions. Through the organization’s personalized consulting, the couple gained a clearer understanding of the required permits and procedures to move forward with the expansion.
Reflecting on her journey
Lila and Salvador encourage other entrepreneurs to stay committed and give back. “Starting and maintaining your business takes a lot of effort, but it’s worth it. It’s worth being able to work on your own terms and to see your efforts help your family and community grow,” shared Lila.
With Prospera’s guidance, Lila and Salvador strengthened their understanding of legal requirements and operational procedures necessary to expand their business, allowing them to approach the next phase with greater structure and informed decision-making. As Molka-GT Kitchen On Wheels, LLC continues to grow, they remain committed to building a stable foundation that will support its transition from a food truck to a restaurant, bringing them closer to that goal each day.
