Christi Floyd serves as part of the Economic Development Department for the City of Charlotte. Her work focuses on building connections, resources, and programs that strengthen the business community and foster economic mobility.

What is your company’s mission and what products or services does it offer?
I work for the City of Charlotte’s Economic Development Department. Our mission is to help small businesses start, grow, and thrive locally. We provide programs, resources, tools, and partnership connections that strengthen our business community and support economic mobility.
What motivated you to serve as a Prospera volunteer?
I believe deeply in equitable access to opportunity. Prospera has been a trusted, culturally competent partner for Latino entrepreneurs for decades, and I’ve seen firsthand the impact their coaching, training, and support has on real families and real business outcomes.
It’s an honor to serve in a space where my time and voice contribute to helping entrepreneurs build generational wealth.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
I have learned that relationships are the real infrastructure. When people feel seen, trusted, and valued, impact accelerates.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
I intentionally protect the time I use to unplug. I take dance classes, volunteer in the community and with my church, and spend time with my family. Creating healthy boundaries allows me to stay aligned with my purpose and show up fully for others.
What is one item still on your bucket list?
One item still on my bucket list is to experience a true African safari. I want to see the wildlife in its natural environment, learn from the culture and history of the region, and take in the type of beauty and scale you simply cannot grasp from photos or documentaries. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
