Chakema Clinton-Quintana, TAC member for Prospera in North Carolina, is a passionate professional focused on strengthening and supporting inclusive small business growth in underserved communities. As Director of Channel at Live Oak Bank, Chakema leads initiatives to diversify Willmington’s economy by developing inclusive incentive and engagement programs, supporting minority-owned businesses, and driving small business growth through strategic partnerships, job creation, and capital allocation. What are your company’s mission and products/services?
Channel’s mission is to elevate and foster a thriving community of diverse entrepreneurs who scale into job creation through learning and development.
Products and Services:
- Provide a Class-A space for entrepreneurs in the ILM region
- Provide high quality, direct technical assistance to entrepreneurs
- Networking Events & Mentor Connections
- Office Hours Program
- Provide resources and workshops and 1-on-1 business coaching sessions
What motivated you to serve as a Prospera volunteer?
I am passionate about assisting small businesses to find resources to help start, grow, and scale their businesses.
What would you most like the local community to know about Prospera?
Prospera is an amazing non-profit organization that works hard to empower the Latinx community through bilingual training and resources.

Driven, Empathetic, Leader
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
Always speak up for what is right; kindness matters.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
I meditate, say no when there is no capacity to assist, once a month beach therapy (hot or cold), and always find time to connect with friends and family.
How do you stay informed about trends in your industry?
I stay informed about trends in my industry through traveling to other spaces similar to Channel, attending conferences, reading, networking and forming partnerships.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
Anywhere near the water. I enjoy water views, and it keeps everyone calm. 😊
